Surrealism

Surrealism definition:

a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images.

Artist: Rene Magritte

Surrealism is a peice of art work that isn’t real and shows something that can not happen. It something you would see in a dream. Surrealism shows what you unconsious mind sees, your unconsious mind also conrols your dreams. They use the same concept, in your dream its scenarios that are not bound too reality. And the creativity for these peices of art are made by people who can use the mental activites just below the threshold of your mind called your subconsious and turn it intp a picture or painting.

This painting uses surrealism in multiple ways. Just look at the man’s hat, you can see that it is not a normal hat. The “top hat” he is wearing serves as a cage for two birds. And when i look at the painting i can also see that he does not have a face, it is cut out by another face. But the face cutting out his is made from the sky and not another persons.

This is my picture I edited for this surrealism assignment.
